Our Story

Our journey began over six years ago with a simple idea: to bridge the gap between academia and industry through immersive, real-world experiences. That vision became the Externship Exchange Program, offered through Rutgers University’s Master of Business and Science (MBS) degree. The program provides experiential projects that connect students to innovation across STEM, business, and design—preparing them to become the innovators and leaders of tomorrow.

Who Is This For

Students: Open to all Rutgers University undergraduate, and only Master of Business and Science (MBS) graduate students.
Partners: We collaborate with a diverse range of organizations, including nonprofits, educational institutions, startups, and Fortune 500 companies.

Our Goal

Develop future leaders who will drive innovation and economic growth in science-intensive industries.

Externships bring to students hands-on experiential learning opportunities with industry partners. These projects connect students with the latest in innovation and thought leaders, with a focus on layers of mentoring. Students are prepared to join the workforce, pivot into a new area, or build on their existing skills.
