Abby Wheaton is in her fifteenth year in public education. She holds a BA in history from Westminster College and an MA in education with an emphasis in literacy from the University of the Cumberlands.  She received the Valvoline Teacher Achievement Award and was a semifinalist for Kentucky Teacher of the Year in 2018.  In 2022, she earned her gifted and talented education endorsement from Western Kentucky University.  In 2024,she was awarded the Service and Advocacy Award by the Kentucky Association of Gifted Education and currently sits on the Kentucky State Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education.  She currently teaches gifted social studies classes and electives at the middle and high school level for Union County Public Schools in Morganfield, Kentucky.
